The
Takiyaha El-Mawlawiyyah is present at the suburbs of Tripoli (el-Zeytoun, i.e., the
olive orchards). It was built by Mr. Samsamji Ali at 1619 CE and it follows the Ottoman
architecture. It occupies a 200 m2 area and is composed of 3 stories. This building was
described by many of the city visitors. Stories cite the beauty of the building especially
in the 19th century. The takiyyah is known to be a theological school used by the
followers of "Jelal el-Din al-Roumi", famous for his Soufi school in Konya
(Turkey). At present it is unused and an urgent maintenance is needed before it completely
demolishes. |
